Masada College prides itself on developing well rounded, confident leaders who are independent, creative thinkers with an awareness of their world. Our Leading Learning educational package ensures our students are provided with the skills required both for learning and living post school. We offer students an extensive range of subject choices and a diverse co-curricular program, with a focus on recognising the leader within each student.

YEARS 7-10

Masada College Senior School follows the NSW Board of Studies’ guidelines with all students in Years 7-10 covering the required hours of study in the Key Learning Areas:

  • English
  • Mathematics
  • Science
  • Creative Arts
  • Technological and Applied Studies (TAS)
  • Personal Development, Health and Physical Education (PDHPE)
  • Human Society and its Environment (HSIE)
  • Language other than English (LOTE)

In addition, all students have a Jewish Life component in Year 7 & 8.

YEARS 9 & 10

In Years 9 and 10 students choose four electives from a range of subjects including:

  • Commerce
  • Mandarin
  • Music
  • Visual Arts
  • Food Technology
  • Design and Technology Workshop
  • Physical Activity and Sports Studies (PASS)
  • Hebrew
  • Advanced Hebrew
  • Ulpan Hebrew
  • Jewish Life
  • Advanced Jewish Life

All Year 9 & 10 all students continue to study Jewish History and Jewish students elect which course(s) of Jewish Life / Hebrew they prefer.

YEARS 11 & 12

The subjects offered in Years 11 and 12 vary according to the interests and strengths of each specific cohort of students. All students must study English (either Advanced, Standard or ESL) and then choose courses which regularly include:

  • Mathematics (all levels)
  • Chemistry
  • Physics
  • Biology
  • Modern History
  • Ancient History
  • Hebrew (Modern and/or Classical)
  • Society and Culture
  • Studies of Religion
  • Business Studies
  • Economics
  • Information Processes and Technology
  • Extension courses
  • Hospitality Operations (Vocational and Education and Training course)
  • Food Technology
  • Design and Technology
  • Music
  • Visual Arts
  • Personal Development, Health and Physical Education
  • Sport, Lifestyle and Recreation
  • and such others which may be feasible from time to time

Students are provided with alternative paths for subjects they may wish to study which fall outside of those offered. Many of our students choose to study Accounting, a TAFE delivered course, usually choosing to complete the HSC component in Year 11. Other alternatives include the Open High School, other TAFE courses and external institutes.

Masada College offers a differentiated curriculum throughout all courses, which caters for the individual needs of each student. Enrichment and Extension, extra academic support and ESL support are offered to students on a needs basis, in consultation with parents, staff and our Learning Support Team. Students are also offered the opportunity to do Pathways to HSC.
