Curriculum Preschool to Year 6

Masada College Junior School is first and foremost a school with a Culture of Thinking. As part of our Leading Learning educational package, every student is challenged and stimulated in their journey by evaluative thinking, the opportunity to lead and the acceptance of personal responsibility. Our aim is to help young boys and girls develop their learning skills through the use of differentiation and integration, to allow the strengths of each child to shine.

The school constantly professionally develops its highly skilled classroom and specialist teachers, who work to tailor classes to individual needs. The approach to learning in the Junior School is further enhanced by our innovative use of technology and excellence in pedagogy. Students may also benefit from working with learning support teachers in Literacy and Numeracy when experiencing challenges. The students also have the advantage of an Enrichment Co-ordinator who is able to design programs for those students who would benefit from special courses.

Additionally, close partnerships with parents and our focus on tailoring the teaching and curriculum to fit in with the needs of the community bring a meaningful approach to the school/home partnership.

Masada College Junior School follows the directions set by the New South Wales Board of Studies within the following Key Learning Areas:

• English
• Mathematics
• Science and Technology
• Human Society and Its Environment
• Creative and Practical Arts (Music, Drama and Visual Art)
• Personal Development, Health and Physical Education

Masada students in Years 5 and 6 also engage in the Personalised Learning program once a week, where the aims of all curriculum areas are integrated into exciting, demanding and creative units of work.
